Weligama Bay and Mirisssa Village 6 km to the south of Weligama are the home bases for whale watching tours in the southern tip of Sri Lanka. Migrating whales hug the coast at this point are available for watching especially during the November to April season. Sperm whale are more common than the blue whales.
